The State of AI · Issue 03 · August 2025

Can a dashboard actually run my law firm's case load?

In July, MVP Law Group gave its clients a bilingual intake agent. In August, it gave its own staff the same intelligent interface, consolidating six swivel chair tools into one dashboard that surfaces case work, documents, billing, and scheduling in one place. The customer side and the employee side are now the two halves of the same operating model.

The Question This Issue Answers

Can a dashboard actually run my law firm's case load?

A dashboard by itself cannot run a case load. The honest version of the question is whether an intelligent interface, sitting on top of the firm's existing systems, can collapse the swivel chair work that eats up paralegal and attorney hours every day. The answer in August 2025 is yes, and the receipt is at MVP Law Group.

Before the dashboard, the firm's team moved between six tools to handle a single matter. Clio for the case file. Outlook for email and calendar. The case management system for status notes. The billing system for time entries. The shared file store for documents. Email again to coordinate with co counsel. The cost of doing nothing was not the license fees on six tools, it was the cognitive overhead of context switching between them all day, every day, on every matter.

The customer side got intelligent in July when The Open Phone Line went live for inbound intake. The employee side getting the same intelligence in August is the half of the story most firms never get to. Most firms automate the customer experience and leave the team running on the same swivel chair. MVP Law Group did both.

What Businesses Are Asking This Month

What businesses are asking this month.

How is this different from the July intake agent?

The July deployment, The Open Phone Line, faces clients. It captures inbound intake in English and Spanish across web widget and after hours phone. The August deployment, The Employee Dashboard, faces the firm's own staff. The intake captured by Tina in July flows into the dashboard the firm's team works in every day. Together they are the two halves of the same operating model. Most firms only build one half, usually the customer facing one, and leave their staff on the same swivel chair.

Why is the receipt time recovered and not dollars saved?

Because the honest answer is operator time recovered. We can credibly count the tab switches eliminated, the minutes per matter saved, and the staff feedback on workflow friction. Translating that to a precise annual dollar figure would require assumptions about billable hour reallocation that we did not test in the first ninety days. The Featured Solution is real, the productivity gain is real, and the dollar conversion is in progress.

Does the dashboard replace Clio or the case management system?

No. It sits on top of them. Clio remains the system of record for matters and time. Outlook remains the system of record for email and calendar. The Employee Dashboard reads from all of them, surfaces what the attorney or paralegal needs in one place, and writes back to the underlying systems through their APIs. Replacing Clio was never on the table. Eliminating the swivel chair was.

What did the dashboard cost and how long did it take?

Investment range was $20,000 to $45,000 for build and integration plus $1,000 per month to operate. Deployment ran five to eight weeks. The middle of the range covers the bilingual intake handoff from The Open Phone Line, the AI assist layer for case routing, and full integration to Clio, Outlook, the billing system, and the file share. Smaller firms with fewer integrated systems land at the lower end. Larger firms with more bespoke tooling land higher.
